Scalloped Border Stitching Cut File for Paige Taylor Evans

Hey, hi friends! It’s day 7 of Paige Taylor Evans, 36 Days Of Stitching Cut Files.  This bundle is only $30, or just .83 each ! If you just want to collect a few favourites, pop into Paige’s Etsy shop, because they’re also available individually!

I think this file, Scalloped Borders For Stitching, is actually a good beginner stitching file because the pattern is very easy to see while you’re stitching. Here’s what it looked like before all the pretty embellishments from Paige’s, Blooming Wild collection.  It’s cut out of  white Cardstock.

I backstitched with all six strands of DMC’s Variegated Floss in 11 colours. I really love to see the colour way appear as I’m stitching! I order my thread from Stitch-It Central. They have every DMC colour and far more than Michaels Crafts. I stitched the rows in a somewhat modified rainbow. I like my colour seqence more than mother natures, ha! Cheeky or what?

The title, Grüezi, is Swiss-German, and it’s how you say hello where these photos were taken, in Lucerne, Switzerland. We took a covered, horse drawn wagon ride, up the mountain, through charming little communities filled with whitewashed homes covered in flowers, overflowing from the window box’s. We meandered under the canopy of a lush forest to arrive at this beautiful garden and chalet for wine and cheese.  I remember the blonde manes of the horses waving as they clopped along, bells ringing on the way. It was simply magical at every turn. I can’t even believe it was real, more like a fairytale.

I used the fabulous Chipboard Alphabet to make my title. It’s placed vertically so I wouldn’t cover-up any one row of stitching. That led me to making my title tone-on-tone.  The chipboard letters all have pre-cut patterned paper letters to go with, but I chose my own Blooming Wild papers from the 6 x 8 Paper Pad, except for the E.  I just traced the chipboard letter with a pencil, then fussy cut it out glued it on.  Then, I added 3 tiny phrase stickers from the 8 Page Sticker Book, again, tone-on-tone. Still on the title, more pretty things, Mini Flower Puffy Stickers.  I’m crazy- bananas for them and already ordered more 😁 They’re pretty darn irresistible and fit in anywhere!

Around the photos you’ll find, flowers from both the Floral Die Cuts and Cardstock Stickers, ‘Together’ from the Puffy Phrase Stickers, birdies and a cute birdhouse that reminded me of the chalet, from the Ephemera Die Cuts.  To build-in that appealing, imaginary scrap triangle, I made a mini collage over the letter E with another Floral Die Cut and ‘Hello’, cut out of Paper 22.  Finally, I added 5 epoxy hearts from the Puffy Phrase Stickers, paint dabs and sequins from my stash, all tone-on-tone. Do you have a favourite item in Paige’s new Blooming Wild collection?  Guess what? I LOVE it all !

It’s only day 7 and we’re all super excited to share new stitched inspirations every day!

So nice of you to come by, thank you!

Cheers, 💗 Kelly

    1. Hello sweet Lavinia ! Thanks so so much for your message. Hope all is well at Salmon Brook. Maybe you’re seeing daffodils, which would be so nice. It’s still been pretty cold yes with snow here. But by April it should start to turn around 💛
