Thank heavens for this pretty new collection by Paige Taylor Evans this week, it’s been a beautiful distraction. It’s available exclusively at Michael’s Craft Store. You can check out all the links on Paige’s Blog.

Since I was temporarily out of Go The Scenic Route Paper 11, I’ve created a file in Silhouette Studio to make something similar. Here’s what my file looks like when you open it. If you’d like to try it too, I’m sharing it right here!
When you open the .Studio3 file, the 12×12 file on the mat is used with the Pencil Holder made for your Silhouette Cameo. The file will draw the ‘map’ that you fill in with pieces you cut with the 6×6 file shown in Blue. I have to tuck a mini clothespin into mine because my pencil is too thin for the holder, just call me MacGyver, LOL.
I picked out some cute papers from the collection that I thought coordinated perfectly. There’s a lot of foiled papers to add a nice sparkle to your projects.
Once cut out, I randomly glued them onto the ‘map’ my Cameo drew on the background paper. Only the centre of each circle is glued down completely. The outer pieces of the circle are glued down with a very thin strip of liquid glue.
Above is what my finished background looked like before stitching. I used gold metallic thread to machine stitch each diagonal row in both directions (please excuse the bad photo, it was late at night and I had to throw a lot of light on it).
Once the edges are turned up, the background is completely transformed.
Here’s some closeups.
The pink acrylic heart on the right photo is one of the paper clips in the collection. I removed the clip to use it as shown. Aren’t the puffy photo corners cute? The package has nine colours in different patterns.
The hearts behind the photos are in a Die Set by Paige and available at this link. They’re cut on my Big Shot from rainbow hued paper in the 6×6 paper pads. Then I backed them with vellum and stitched with the same thread as the background. They make a nice calm place for the photos to land on the busy background.
The pink frame started out orange, but I covered it with paper from another 6×6 Paper Pad so it’d match my layout. Then sewed on some sequins from my stash to bling it up. The only ephemera that’s not part of this pretty collection is my title and the yellow dots.
Here’s my finished layout again, I think the pastels are so pretty!

Thanks so much for coming by!

I’m back from watching Paige’s video and I’m even more impressed with what you’ve done here. My brain doesn’t absorb math, even when crafting is involved, so I couldn’t sort this out. Now I’m up to speed and yup, you are amazing.

This is so pretty. It makes me smile just looking at it. I’m glad you have some new papers to play with. I know that can be uplifting, and heaven knows we need it. xo

Oh heavens Alys, so sorry. I’m just seeing your message tonight. Thanks so much for your fabulous message. The good thing about using your Cameo is, you don’t need to do any math, know math, apply math….no math, LOL.
We’ve been pretty lucky during Covid. Jim enjoys working at home and I enjoy being in the craftroom so we’ve remained a happy team. I don’t think life in Canada has been as deflating and depressing as it might been in the USA, but or sure, being creative puts sunshine in the day. xo ❤

LOL on the whole math thing. My brain doesn’t seem to be wired for it. Thank goodness for modern-day assists. I remember when handheld, digital calculators first came along. Now we can calculate and even measure with our phones. I hope you’re feeling better with the passing days. xo
