2021 Sunshine And Happiness with Go The Scenic Route

Happy New Years Eve friends ! I’m so happy to wish you sunshine and happiness in 2021 with a new layout for Paige’s Silhouette Design Team.

You’ll no doubt agree, 2020 was rough and a year full of bumps and bruises. So I’ve gone ahead and sewn in a few patches, then brought out the pretty to ring in the New Year. I choose the Poinsettia Wreath cut file to do just that. I’ve cut it on my Cameo 3 from white AC Cardstock and used Paige’s happy and colourful, Go The Scenic Route through out.

The paper patches were made with a page from the 6×8 Paper Pad and sewn with gold metallic thread. I love using these tiny prints in small spaces! My background paper is my very favourite from this collection, Paper 21.  After sewing on my patches, I splattered the background with watered down white acrylic paint to add more interest and texture.

I really concentrated on using just three colours in the cut file; yellow, pink and blue, as to not drown out or overwhelm my pretty background. Starting at the bell, the ribbon is made with a paper in the 6×8 pad. The bells are made up of small bits from previous projects, including Paper 13, 20 and 9.

I love how the poinsettia turned out! The pink ones are painterly Paper 13, while the yellow ones are a combo of Paper 14 and pretty pink Paper 12. The holly leaves are from Paper 5.  I just cut a few squares out from around the maps because it was the perfect green. I used the navy side of Paper 12 for the berries. I think the dark colour nicely anchors the whole wreath.

Once paper-backed, I sewed on three beads to the centre of each poinsettia to add that sparkle I love. Then, added foam tape to pop the wreath up off the background. Naturally, I dabbed on gold metallic paint and a few sequins (don’t I always, ha). Then, a few puffy dots, tone on tone, from the Puffy Phrase Thickers.

Finally, the finishing touches! Sunshine and Happiness plus the butterflies are all from the Chipboard Stickers. I’m so glad I bought two sets, because they’re absolutely gorgeous! The year is Foam Thickers. I made a wee flag to add on the photo. It and the blue frame are both cut out of Paper 1.

That’s me in front of St Mary’s church in Bampton, UK. The village is located in the pretty Cotswold’s and it’s where they filmed the weddings in the series, Downtown Abbey!

Ring those bells ! Happy New Year to you all !

Lucky me, I have a dedicated craft room and currently on the Cut File Team for Paige Taylor Evans. I mostly enjoy making 12x12 layouts and Mini Albums. Thanks so much for coming by 💛
