Hello friends, thanks so much for poppin’ in ! I’m scrapping with Pinkfresh Studio today.
It’s been a wee minute since I posted here. Well, just call me Crash-Kelly, I’ve been recuperating from a broken kneecap and surgery. That was January 26th, so yep, bit of a long haul. I’ve finally conquered climbing stairs on crutches and got back into my craft room ! I’m one happy girl!
While stuck in bed for 6+ weeks, visions of cut files, layouts and new spring collections kept me going. I designed this title using the ‘Outline Block Letters’, available in the Silhouette Store. I overlapped the letters, then used the Weld Tool to tie them together. “OUCH OUCH” was me whimpering when I fell and broke my kneecap, so I thought it was a good title. After backing the cut file, I used my sewing machine to add stitching in gold thread. I love the texture it added.
I’ve combined a few of my favourite Pinkfresh Studio collections. You can link to my gallery to see all the products identified. I turned both photos on the layout into mini shakers for added sparkle and dimension. I mean there’s nothing pretty about a leg brace, LOL!
My latest crush, Keeping it Real is a new one from Pinkfresh Studio. With fun phrases like: just relax, OMG, WHAT?! Real Life, not a good day, making it up as I go and pajamas all day, it was perfect for scrapping my accident! There’s so many more clever and sassy phrases I related to.
The top photo is me, shortly after surgery, wearing an ankle to thigh leg brace. I lived in it for 6 weeks and wasn’t to put any weight on my leg or bend my knee. The second photo is a beautiful desert made by my dear friend Lori. It’s just one of many delicious things Lori prepared for us and delivered every week. We felt totally loved and blessed for all her TLC. It gave Jim a much needed break as I became ‘high maintenance’ overnight.
While I did get to do some crafting from bed, then the dining table over the last two months, it’s beyond nice to be back in my happy place and use my Cameo again.
Hope you’re creative week is making you smile too!

Ouch is an understatement for what you have been through, sweet girl. I broke an ankle many years ago and I think the whole neighborhood heard me cry out. Can I blame old age or lack of brain oxygen for not having figured out how to get here or that here even existed? I’ve been off somewhere for quite some time. Now I can make this all bigger so I can see it. Keep healing. It will take time and patience on everyone’s part. Giant squishy hugs.
Hey Marlene-a-go-go ! Thanks for popping in 😀 I was at physio today and celebrated 6 weeks of physio by taking a few steps without a crutch, whoop whoop.
It’s been a pretty intense adventure, that’s for sure. But as you know, it’s all about attitude. Pouty faces wouldn’t help, so what’s a girl to do? Oh, and when the paramedics helped me to the wagon back in February, there was a couple of pretty loud moans, LOL !
Lucky me to have a great hubby, loving friends and an awesome physio gal and they have all been my Angels! Squishy hugs back at you my dear !! xK
I’m so happy to have your visit Lavinia, thank you for your cheer and kind words. I was going to physio 2x a week for the last 6 weeks and as of this week it’ll be 1x a week.
I’m actually quite amazed at where I progressed. Lot’s of home exercise and Kate, my physio gal has made it possible. She’s so full of energy, empathy, patience and all around happy girl. No one can do this on their own, that’s for sure.
I’ve been thinking of you and your land as spring arrives here. I don’t know about the yard this year. I might just have to look the other way if I can. I tend to be rather particular about things. Next summer, I have to go twice as hard, ha! xK
I’m so glad to hear that you’re back in your craft room/happy place. Your layout is lovely. Way to make lemons out of lemonade. This is definitely a layout you could have done without, but it’s clever and cute, EXCEPT for the broken kneecap part. Love you. xo
Hi honey xo Thanks a bunch! I wanted to record it somehow but maybe not with the ugly stitches photos, ha! I had physio today actually. I’ve made great progress but still get so I’m sore everywhere.
You might have found this with your foot surgery, I unconsciously compensate for the lack of strength on my right side by over using the left. So my left knee and back are getting strained now that I’m up trying to walk with one crutch, LOL It’s a conundrum 😀 xo Sending big love back your way 🥰
Thanks so much for swinging by my blog post Lindy! I have sooo much stuff in my craft room (who doesn’t?). After admiring all my PFS stuff, I just had to make something. Lot’s of pre-knee projects lined up for completion too, LOL. Will I ever catch up or will I just keep buying new stuff? bwahaha, I think we know the answer to that one xo K
Hi Derrick, thanks a bunch. I’ve been at physio for 6 weeks and it’s really helped immensely! I still walk like a robot, but at least I can get around 😀 xK
