You Make My Heart Happy Layout for Paige Evans

Welcome friends, spring arrives later here than most parts of the world. So when the tree’s burst into bloom, it makes my heart so happy!

I’ve used Paige’s sweet Blooming Wild and two of Paige’s cut files. You Make My Heart Happy cut file came out at Valentine’s, but was perfect for how I feel every spring! Think about using Paige’s cut files out of season, like me, you might find one that’s just perfect. I also used Paige’s Doily Mandala cut file. I cut it out of vellum to lay beneath my cut file but over the photo mat. It works like white gesso, fading the background paper. But unlike gesso, it also adds a little pretty texture.

I cut the main title from AC Cardstock and instead of backing the letters in the cut file, I cut them out of  Blooming Wild, then popped them up with foam tape. I love the dimension this technique adds. I made the hearts 3d by doing a, ‘Interior Offset’, in the Silhouette Design Studio. Then stitching the top two together and popping them up over the cut file for even more dimension.

I chain stitched the entire cut file with DMC Color Variations floss. Changing the floss to sort of co-ordinate with the nearest patterned paper. This might be my very most favourite stitching project of all time. I’m so in love with all the colours and how they mixed together seamlessly. I’ve used DMC 4040, 4069, 4080, 4095, 4170 and 4220

Did you notice ‘SPRING’ is hanging off the title?  It cut a thin strip of acetate to adhere letters from the Sugarplum Wishes Mini Alpha’s.

The large butterflies were fussy cut from Paper 3 of Paige’s Splendid collection. They were the perfect match. All other ephemera is from gorgeous Blooming Wild

I hope you got a couple of scrappy ideas of how you can use Paige’s collections and cut files for your own pretty spring projects!

Lucky me, I have a dedicated craft room. I love working with paper to make cards, layouts and Mini Albums. So happy you came by💛

  1. A happy heart is in fashion year-round, but it is clever of you to use it for a spring layout. The colors are perfect for spring. Stitching is relaxing, and though it takes time, I think you enjoy it. I enjoy simple mending for the same reason. It’s not nearly so pretty, but it’s gratifying getting a seam back together, and it brings me contentment. Did you do embroidery growing up?

    1. Thanks so much for your visit Alys. I didn’t do embroidery growning up. I was more into sewing since Grade 8 when we learned to use a sewing machine and read a pattern in Home EC. I’ve seen lots of fun ideas for mending in artistic ways. There’s a bevy of Instagram sites. I think I love collection floss as much as the stitching 😆🌸

      1. I can appreciate the joy of collecting floss. They’re all beautiful. I remember Home EC well.I took two years in middle school, and another two in high school. By then, we had to tailor a coat, sew on stretchy fabric, and make slippery underwear. Can you imagine?

I enjoy the pretty mending reals on FB and Instagram. Many of them are quite clever.

    1. Hello AC friends! Thanks so much for your message 💛 It might look complex but it’s really not. I just takes some time for the stitching, but I love that part and I have nothing but time, ha! Lucky me. Happy travels to you and your lovely guests 🐾🌸🌈
