Welcome friends ! 💛 You’re not seeing things, this makes two posts in one week! LOL, I just couldn’t wait to share, because it’s a brand new collection by Paige Taylor Evans called Sugarplum Wishes AND I made my own Stitching Cut File!
In fact, it’s so new, all I could get were some of the patterned papers. But I’m completely smitten! The colours and icons are so me. I love the fabulous shades of, pink, cherry red, mint, aqua, sky blue and bright green.

It’s not too early for Christmas crafting at all, it’s only 203 days away. If you’re anything like me, the week before Christmas I’m dashing around like a mad woman, wrapping and posting parcels that will arrive late. I totally need a head start 😆

So, what can you do to bake in texture and interest using just the patterned paper ? Why not add colourful stitching!
I thought the cross-stitching gave my layout a bit of Nordic charm. Which was perfect because, Santa lives at the North Pole (wink).

Using some bright combos, of DMC Floss, gives the stitching a fun, updated, dare I say, ‘hip’ vibe. These are the colours I stitched with, using all 6 strands.

I stitched an entire row, left to right and back again. It was fun to see the layers stack up into a colourful heart as I stitched. Here’s a 2 minute illustration of what I mean by that:
If you’d like to try it yourself, download the .studio3 cut file for free, right here. I’m not certain this file will open correctly in Cricut, but if you’d like to try it, email me at Kellymadeit.wordpress@gmail.com and I’ll send you the SVG (unfortunately, I can’t add that file type into WordPress). This is what you’ll see when you open my cut file in the Silhouette Design Studio.

I cut it out of white American Crafts Cardstock. I find, this paper cuts the best on my Cameo. FYI, my well used ratchet blade was set at 4 and 32, with a speed of 3.
Once Silhouette did it’s thing, I trimmed off 3/8″ all around and added a border using Paper 12. I never use the entire sheet to create this kind of border. I take the centre out of the 12×12, leaving only a 1″ frame. Then, I centre and tape my work to it. I always want to save as much of the pattern paper as I can for another project.
‘The magic is in you’, was cut with this Pinkfresh Studio Die from gold Metallic cardstock. The die set includes a shadow that I didn’t use.

Each vignette was made with fussy cut flowers from gorgeous Paper 1 and sweet vintage ornaments cut from Paper 10. If you look close, you can see the teeny, tiny bows made with thread. To fill out the larger floral vignette, I die cut some poinsettias from white dotted vellum using a fab die set from A Pocket Full of Happiness. Head over to YouTube where, business owner Zsoka Marko, will inspire and wow you.

To build in an extra layer, I fussy cut Santa and the ‘Merry Christmas’ banner from the tag side of Paper 1. BTW, I must have been a very gullible 4 year old, just sayin’ ! 😆 Notice I’m wearing aqua? Some things never change, ha!
Do you have this Sticker Book by Paige with 1163 Stickers ? 😳
It’s still available on Amazon.

The gold embossed labels on my photo were the perfect phrases and colours! Shazam! Stash Bust 👏
So that’s a wrap, but again, my tips for creating texture with just a few designer papers:
- Stitch a colourful background
- Fussy cut elements from the paper
- incorporate dies to complement your layout.
- add enamel dots
- sprinkle with paint, I always like gold or silver because they’re neutral
- check your stash for similar colours and themes

I loved seeing how you made this but couldn’t hear it with volume turned all the way up. I get the gist of it though. Love it completely.

Don’t know where my reply went but thanks so much for your message and visit luv. Sorry about the volume, it sounds ok on my MAC. 💛 I’m actually going to receive this entire collection tomorrow from Paige (UPS was suppose to be here Friday). In scrapping terminology, that’s a scream, a cartwheel, maybe even an ‘eeep!’ or ‘shut the front door!’ If it seems over-the-top, it no doubt is. Imagine finding like just the most perfect fabric collection at your door 😆🥰💛
LOL! Later-tater
