Hi friends ! It’s really nice of you to come by. I’m back in our garden, painting it in pretty mauve, yellow and pink with Paige Taylor Evans‘ gorgeous Splendid collection.

I cut three of Paige’s ‘Paintbrush’ cut file #351594, and backed them with pretty foil papers from the Splendid 6 x 8 Paper Pad .  My entire layout was built on a white scalloped background I made using Paige’s Scalloped Border cut file #253003 . After stitching, my scalloped background was popped up with foam tape on Splendid Paper 17. I really love the vibrant print and it’s all the right colours! 

The paper-backing used for the brush bristles was cut from watercolour paper so I could add some wet ink to mimic paint. Once dry, I rubbed a glue stick randomly on them and burnished them with gold Minc Foil. Then I glued on lots of sequins, in a nonsensical way. I wanted them to look really random.

Below the paintbrushes, I added stitching, my photos, some Splendid Sequins and some more from my stash.  To finish off the painterly swipes, teeny-tiny flowers, made with Paige Evans cut files, were added in the same colours. My title, ‘Keep On Growing’ was made with a combination of Splendid Thickers and an Epoxy Sticker.  Finally, bright green leaves perfectly compliment the title, while butterflies float around too. I sprinkle baby powder on the back of stickers so I can move them easily around my layout while designing and so I can add shape to them if I wish. Like turning up the butterfly wings into flight.

I’m loving the Splendid Roller Stamp! I like to use multiple colours on it to echo the rainbow theme too.

Oh, I also chain stitched a lime green frame with DMC floss, adding a bead every five stitches. You can watch it all come together in my process video below.
