The Del Layout for Paige Evans

Hello friends! I’m back sharing another Cut File Design Team layout using Paige’s fun and colourful Adventurous collection. I’ve wanted a VW Van forever, so when I spotted one parked on the beach at The Del in Coronado, I made sure to snap a photo.

I chose pretty aqua and daisy Paper 10 as my background. All-the-pretty-things are built up on White AC Cardstock framed with a scallop I cut from a solid found in the Project Pad. Chain stitching all around in pink added more texture and interest. I then popped it up with 3D Foam Tape to bring it to the forefront. To back the cut files, I’ve used primarily five colors: aqua, pink, yellow, green and blue from both the 12×12 Paper Pad and Project Pad. I mixed the colours of the palm leaves to suggest shadows and light. Think about looking at a lake, it’s not just one shade of blue or green.

Jim sits in front of a cute yellow, vintage VW, so naturally I had to make mine yellow too. I used sunny Paper 15 with speckled Paper 8. It’s a fun alternative to plain white.

I’ve set some luggage and a camera on the roof from the sticker sheet of the Project Pad. I’ve already bought a second one because I’ve used it so much! There’s exclusive papers not found in the rest of the collection, another set of colourful alphabets and an entire sheet of stickers. Hehe, did you notice my little furry passenger?

The fun part for me is adding lots of fun ephemera to help tell my story and create lots of interesting layers. You’ll find it all in the Floral Ephemera, Enamel Dots, Mini Puffy StickersRub-Ons, Cardstock Stickers, Journaling Ephemera, Mini Puffy Alpha’s and the endless, eight sheet Sticker Book.

If you’re ever in San Diego, California, take the quick drive over the bridge to Coronado Island. The cute little main street has a nostalgic feel and is filled with lovely little shops and cafes. Plus, hey, we don’t have any palm trees in Edmonton, so that alone puts a smile on my face.

See you again soon!

Lucky me, I have a dedicated craft room. I love working with paper to make cards, layouts and Mini Albums. So happy you came by💛

    1. Hi again sweet Lavinia! Thanks so much for your cheer 💛 We can’t grow palm trees here (as well as anything that can’t survive to -40C ), so they’re always a big treat when we arrive to southern climes. I think my actual VW Van would have to be a nice seafoam (aqua’ish green) colour. Maybe with 70’s flowers on the side too 😉 xK

    1. Hello dear Herman! Thanks so much for your visit and story. Your dad sounded very cool 🙂 I noticed his sweet face in photos you’ve shared. He looked like a kind and gentle man. Was he a hippy in his youth? You must miss him like crazy.

VW Vans used to be associated with cool, hippies here. But now the millennials buy them up, refurbish them and hit the road. Have you noticed how music and clothes from the 70’s are all the rage again? Except now they call the style, ‘bohemian’ Same stuff, different era. Since the 70’s were my teen years, I tend to love all the tunes from then. Like Queen, ABBA, Elton John, Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Chicago, ELO. But I loved Queen the most! Their music, to me, is timeless. Plus, people still know all the words. Have you seen this vid from a Green Day concert in 2017? Especially tune in at 4:08 😀 I want to jump right off the sofa and join the fun! 💛🌸

      1. My Dad a hippie… hahaha, I don’t think so. He was way too down to earth and totally no dreamer. But he only drove VW Vans during his lifetime.

The old VW Van models are also very popular over here. People pay a lot of money to restore them. I recently talk to a guy who owns the new electric ID Buzz Van. I would love to buy one to honour my Dad but unfortunately they are very expensive. Electric vehicles are very popular in Belgium. Recently I had the new electric Volvo EC40 for one day and boy, that was fun!

Thanks for the YouTube link, that was very impressive! And yes, I fully agree with your list of bands. Queen is also one of my favourite bands. We will rock you, my dear Canadian friend! 😉

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday, Kelly! Jimi sends his regards!

    1. Hello lovely AC friends! I know what you mean. I hear the good ol’ rock & roll of my youth in my head and thinking about waking near a mountain lake and sliding the door open to a beautiful day. Naturally, in this thought, I’m much younger with no fear of a sore back from sleeping on a bad mattress in a VW Van, LOL! Thanks for cheering me on 💛🌸🐾
