Happy almost Halloween crafty friends. An exploding box is a great way to include a lot of photos in one project. This 4×4 box includes 15 photos and 9 cut files! Whew-wee, its a lot of spooky fun!

On the outside, my plan was to have two ghosty friends, floating through a spooky garden. Eek, bat’s are flying everywhere too, LOL! They were die cut and glued onto a piece of wire that’s glued onto the lid. I’ve used Paige’s Layered Flower 276145 and Layered Flower 271166 to make flowers and also added a few fussy cut flowers from Splendid Paper 13.

White vellum leaves, and silver spiders add to the fun. I used dies from my stash. When you remove the lid, the inside folds out to reveal more spooklicious fun!

Inside my Exploding Box, eight spooky photos are featured in Paige’s Halloween Polaroids. They’re available in her, 20 Halloween Cut Files bundle.

After cutting the boo-tiful polaroids from white AC Cardstock, and paperbacking in fun colours from Paige’s Garden Shoppe and Splendid Collections, I added loads of texture with hand-stitching. The phrases are pretty tiny, so I only used 4 strands of DMC floss. Then chain-stitched a frame with all 6 strands of white DMC Floss onto each. It all took about 10 hours.

Paige’s Exploding Box Cut File has three layers, I turned the smallest layer into another unfolding box and hid a cute little mini album inside. It holds another seven photos. It measures just 2 3/4″ square with a 1 1/4″ spine. I used a technique Paige taught in her virtual class: Chipboard Hidden Hinge.

Four more Halloween cut files fill out the inside of my box! Links below.
There’s a short flip-thru on my YouTube Channel today, if you want a boo at the complete project.

Thank you so much for visiting ! Have you ever made an exploding box?

Thanks so much Lavinia. We don’t do the parties anymore, so all the photos are my bestie and her family. It’s still fun to create though. This was a bit of a project and a half, but I wanted it to be an extra pretty gift. 💗 xK
