MEMORYDEX BOX CARD #5 – Stay Cool

Hello friends, welcome to Card 5 – Stay Cool ! Why a fan you might ask?

Because we’ve just survived the craziest heat wave ever (but just barely).  This past week, your friendly neighbourhood scrapbooker and the entire Northwestern part of North America, suffered through record breaking heat, the likes of which we’ve never seen.

But not to fear, I’ve made this cute little fan to blow the fragrant scent of summer blooms your way 💛

I’m using Hey Hello by Pebbles as my starting point but also stash busting through my craft room. Do you have a lot of cute scrappy stuff you’re squirreling away, while buying the latest and greatest?  Guilty as charged. I love it all, want it all and to some degree, (plug your ears Jim) buy a lot more than I need 😁.

I love to incorporate stitching onto my projects and this week wasn’t an exception. For the pieces of the cut file I hand stitched, I cut one from the patterned paper and one from white cardstock then taped them together. After piercing holes with a pin on a rubber mat, I chain stitched with 6 strands of DMC thread in a coordinating colour.

‘What heat wave’, says this cool snail. 😁

Here’s a short video tutorial for all the tricks on how-to put it together.

Since it’s the tallest card I’ve designed so far, I’ve tucked it in as the last card in my Memorydex Box. Who knows what comes next? Well I do of course, but you’ll have to come back next Sunday 😘

I love seeing all the shapes, patterns and colours mingling together in the box.

    1. Hi again Debra! Thanks so much for your visit and message ! It’s been a lot of fun designing my summer Memorydex Box.

I would imagine South Georgia is very hot! We’re not used to that kind of heat here at all. It’s been way too warm for most of us.

These are designed to fit the custom Memorydex Box I designed and don’t fit the Heidi Swapp Memorydex. I just want to ensure you noticed that. Cheers my dear!

    1. LOL, copyright ‘The Boom Room’ 😹 That made me laugh. It’s been fun to go through my stash and dedicate my time to a particular project. Making a commitment to a timeline keeps me on track too. Currently going through another heatwave with several days in a row over 30C. So scrapping away the days in AC is my solution xoxo K. Thanks for being here sweets 🌸💛

      1. I’m glad I made you laugh! I miss laughing together, but it looks like that could be a bit longer. All these anti-vaxers are making it hard on everyone else. It’s a deadly choice. I’ll never understand that selfishness.

I’m glad you’re having fun with your stash. It is great fun using what you have.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been hit with another heatwave. Ugh! I’m so glad you have a beloved hobby and AC! xo

        1. Oh man, YES, thank heavens for AC. Now it’s smoke that’s filling our city. It’s coming from BC. The plus is, the smoke blocks the sun. The delta is we can’t open the windows or even go out for long. This summer has been a real pill !! GAK !

  2. You already know how cute I think these are and there is no way I could ever duplicate one. You have a rare talent in that area. Everyone should be doing something they love as much as you do this. Guess it’s what keeps you out of bars and off the streets. 😉 That’s what I say about my hobbies. People say I spend too much time and money on them but what a way to go.

    1. Out of the bars, LOLOL. That made me laugh. Hey hey Marlene-a-go-go 💛 If you had the same stuff, you’d ace it. Honestly, they’re pretty easy to put together. It takes me longer to design the card, photograph it and write a post, LOL Thanks so much sweets 💛💛💛xK

  3. I am caught up with you now, Kelly. I love all this wonderful creativity, a bright spot amid much chaos.

It looks like the temperatures are coming down in your area from what I can tell online. These weather oscillations are pretty crazy. Portland, Oregon hit 115. My area was 107 in the shade.

    1. Hello sweet Lavinia, thank you so much for all your visits. This project started as a way to use up stuff I’ve bought but not made good use of yet. We call it ‘stash busting’ in the scrapping community. I’ve had fun re-discovering all kinds of cute products.
We had a few days of seasonal weather, then today we got back into a heat cycle. 31 C or 88 F today and not cooling much next week. 115F must have been horrendous!! 107 F in the shade, good grief, that’s bananas. I’m sure if we feel it, domestic animals and wild too must be suffering. I just saw news on California and the current drought. My gosh, what happens when the water runs out? It’s so scary. An entire town in British Columbia burned due to a fast moving wildfire. Everything is so dry. How’s the moisture levels in your area? Stay well, keep cool and let’s hope things cool off 💛 xK

    1. Hello dear Herman. Thank you so much for your thoughts. I can’t believe we made your news. Yes, that extended heatwave was horrendous. I didn’t even leave the house except for a couple of physio appointments. We had a few nice seasonal days, but now back to 30 C and higher for the next 4 or 5 days. We’re half way through summer and I’ve barely been outdoors. Today 31 C. I hope every takes extra care for their pets! Please pass on a cuddle to Jimi 💛🌸 Cheers friends, xK
