Let’s Stay Little Layout with Go The Scenic Route

Today I’m remembering some childhood days with Paige’s newest collection, Go The Scenic Route.

Have you ever said, “they grow up too fast” or “let them stay little longer”? That’s what I was thinking about when I began to work on this layout.

I’m so thankful for the happy, bright colours this collection brings to my crafting. I think I might have used them all with Paige’s Sketch & Stitch Butterflies Background 1.  I wanted to fill the whole half of my layout with stitching. After shrinking the cut file a bit, I copied and pasted enough butterflies to fill the page and cut it out of White AC Cardstock.  If you’ve never used one of these files, Paige has made a really great tutorial to show you how.

At first, with all the colour going into my design, I thought I’d make my photos B&W. But childhood is colourful, especially with three brothers, so I printed them in colour. I think the photos we share and the memories they evoke need to tell the right story. That’s all of us kids visiting the farm. Had an outhouse and no electricity, but we loved it out there. This corner of my layout was filled with Paper 11. Reminiscent of a pretty quilt, it was perfect for a visit with Grandpa.

My title was made with letters from the Puffy Word Stickers.  I always get two packages. One for mixing my own words with lots of colour. The package is full of fabulous and colourful prompts for our layouts, like: new, today, play, hi, best, memories, story. They offer a nice jumping off point for ideas.  I added them to the big yellow journalling circle from the Ephemera Die Cuts.  Is that bird just not the sweetest ? I adore the images in this collection so much.

My photos and title are surrounded with pretty flowers from the Floral Die Cuts pack. To create that invisible triangle, two more tags, from the Ephemera Die Cuts pack were added opposite the title. ‘Always A Dreamer’, that was Trevor, the little one with his eyes closed.

I’ve sprinkled pretty Enamel Dots around the page. They have my heart, full of glitter and images of tiny birds and flowers.

This project is dedicated to my brother Trevor.

Sadly, he passed away August 10th. Too bad we can’t stay little longer.

Lucky me, I have a dedicated craft room and currently on the Cut File Team for Paige Taylor Evans. I mostly enjoy making 12x12 layouts and Mini Albums. Thanks so much for coming by 💛

    1. Hello lovely and thank you for your kind message. Each of us has our way of working through things. You might write a song, an artist may paint. This is what I know to do. The stitching brought a feeling of calm last month and the colour, a reminder that there’s always beauty in the world and to look at each day as a blessing. Hugs, xK

    1. Hello lovely ! Thank you so so much for your message! Very easy, just copy paste as many as you want to stitch (first release the compound path on Paige’s file so you can grab individual butterflies). Hope you’re having a gorgeous day !! 🥰😍🌸❤️

  1. Beautiful stitching, lots of colouful fluttering and a heart warming tribute to your brother. This is why we scrapbook, to recall the childhood memories which still bring us Joy. Thanks for the inspiration.
