Kelly Made it with Pink Paislee, Horizon

Hello sweet friends! It’s so close to spring and all the beautiful new collections have arrived in my craft room. The most anticipated is by Paige Evans, it’s called Horizon.

It’s a gorgeous mix of rainbow colours with travel and garden inspired ephemera. As always Paige’s collections are very versatile.  I’ve used it this week with a brand new cut-file by Paige, gifted in her first New’s Letter. Be sure to sign up!

I fell for it immediately, an open book with flowers blooming from within. You can also get it at her Etsy Shop and Silhouette Studio.

Of course, I needed the background to complimented what I planned within the cut-file and tried a number of Paige’s papers from different collections. Do you see any you would pick?

I almost always like to use a patterned paper in the background but nothing jumped out at me. Then, I dropped it on a white sheet of cardstock.

“Yes, that’s the one”, I thought. I’ve often admire this ‘white on white’ technique done by some of my favourite designers, including Rachel Lowe of Scrapbooking Our Journey and Lorilei Murphy of Rosey Posey Studio’s. They’re so talented and generous, you’ll want to pop in on them too! I decided to add some light touches of water-colouring. It’s a new thing for me, so I was gentle.

I added colour with a plan of, tone on tone. Pink behind a pink flower, blue behind blue and so on. I was apprehensive, but was happy with the result.

It’s your’s truly having a flat white in Sydney, Australia last February 😀 Now, that’s my idea of a great adventure!

Thank’s so much for visiting, see you again soon.

PS, This made my day. Paige included me in her stories yesterday!!!

I’m still walking on air ❤

Lucky me, I have a dedicated craft room and currently on the Cut File Team for Paige Taylor Evans. I mostly enjoy making 12x12 layouts and Mini Albums. Thanks so much for coming by 💛

  1. I’m tickled to see that Paige included you in her story. I’m sure she’s impressed with your creations like the rest of us. It’s great to get a shout out from someone you admire, so I know you’ve been on cloud nine. This is such a fabulous cut file. I’ll have to see what I can do with it in conjunction with the Little Free Library. Hmmm. You’ve got me thinking. Except I have a client in the morning so now I”m off to sleep. I’ll be dreaming of all the fun days we have ahead. It won’t be long now. Xo

    1. Hey honey bee 😀 ❤ Thank you, thank you for your lovely message xo. Yes, a shout-out from Paige was something that had me walking on air. While it's a simple cut-file, you can make it look really textured and detailed. It was a monochromatic challenge but it sure would be pretty with more colours too. I had a long nap after dinner tonight and my sleepy time will be mixed up, so I'm off to do some late-night crafting ! We are going to R&R sooooo hard, xoxoxo K

    1. You are the dearest ! It’s so nice of you to swing into the craft area Lavinia 😀 It’s probably not that interesting for a non-scrapbooking gal and its why I separated it from Boomdeeadda. But much like your beautiful music, us gals need to express our creativity. Are you doing gigs this year? Did I mention I bought a Ukulele in Maui? I’ve tried to learn cords from some lessons on line. But I need to be held accountable to practicing. So I’m hoping to find a teacher in our area. Hope all is well in you nest and the coming season brings promise of good gardens, no bad bugs and bountiful harvests 😀 xk

    1. You’re just adorable Ms H! Thank you for your sweet cheer ❤ ❤ . Tomorrow is the Holy Grail of Scrapbooking all year. It's National Scrapbook Day (sound the trumpets, LOL) I'll be working and then falling into a deep coma. Resting up today, LOL

        1. Good Morning lovely Ms H ! After staying in my PJ’s all day Sunday, enjoying tutorials on the web, I now feel recovered, LOL. Thanks tons !! Jim’s gone off on a golf trip and I’m a bachelorette this week. No household duties to share with my crafting time 😀 I say that now, but mid week I’ll be looking at holiday photo’s and calling him to hear his voice, bahahaha.

          1. You describe perfectly how my bachelorette weeks go as well, dear Boomdee. I’m just grateful to live in an age when I *can* call my honey every half hour or so to ask when he’s coming back home, ha ha. 🙂

  2. It looks like you sewed beads onto the sides of the paper?? Do you have a youtube video showing how that was done? I’d like to try it but need some guidance.

    1. Hi Jodie! I’ve added the beads with a simple straight stitch and We’R Memory Keepers Metallic Thread. I’m working on getting a Youtube channel going. I’ll be sure to do a lesson on sewing. Thank you for your question and for visiting too 😀
